Through Twitter, I get to learn some great ideas from top educators around the world. One name that came across my feed pretty regularly was Amy Hollingsworth. I noticed that she has a science background which intrigued me because it has been awhile since I have talked to a tech savvy science teacher. Can't wait to learn more.
I asked Amy to send me a short bio, that I usually edit, but this was so nicely written and gave me a picture of her work, so I have just copied and pasted it. "Up until July, I had been a biologist and STEM educator at The University of Akron. I’ve taught over 11,000 non-majors biology students and mentored 150 biology grad students. I’ve written seven laboratory manuals, while working full time, kicking butt as a single mother, and living with Type I diabetes. I love technology, and use it to enhance my teaching. I developed a personal website, www.sevenminutescientist.com , and a custom website for a laboratory manual publisher, www.bigpicturebiology.com. And then, in May, the perfect job posting ended up in my inbox. I applied for a position as a Technology Integration Specialist for Massillon City Schools - and I got the job! I get to do all the fun things I did at the university, in biology, for an ENTIRE district! I’m planning Google PD, helping with 1:1 Chromebook integration, and designing curriculum (my PhD is in Curriculum and Instruction, not Biology). And I’m doing it all by harnessing the power of my PLN!"
